A picture worth a thousand words

A hard sentence to describe the indescribable, the power of the image makes words useless. You can talk to me as much as you want, you can write down as much word as you want you won’t be able to give me the same feeling and power than showing me the image you’re talking of. So why writing on images ? To take your look where i want, to show you something or to make you look somewhere else, to fullfill the photo. Aren’t words useless ? For me a good shooter is a good writer, a good story teller and my friend will agree, a photo tells a story. And you must be able to join a few words to help the viewer to understand. Not to understand the picture but to understand what he can’t (it can be the “where”, the “who”, the “when”, the “how” or the “why”). So for me a good shooter must be a good writer.
Une photo vaut mille mots. Une phrase qui décrit l’indescriptible, la puissance de l’image rend les mots inutiles. Vous pouvez parler autant que vous voulez, écrire autant de mots que vous voulez, vous ne pourrez pas retranscrire la puissance de l’image. Alors pourquoi écrire sur les images ? Pour le jeu, pour conduire ou éconduire le regard, pour remplir les blancs, pour équilibrer l’image. Les mots ne sont pas inutiles, un bon photographe doit être un bon écrivant, un bon “raconteur d’histoire” et cet ami ne me contredira pas. Une photo raconte une histoire et l’on doit pouvoir apporter en quelques mots ce que la photo ne dit pas. Parfois c’est le “où”, le “comment”, le “quand”, le “qui” ou le “pourquoi”. C’est pourquoi je pense qu’un bon photographe doit savoir écrire
